Home VisitsCenter Based Home Visits Home visits are an important part of Head Start and Early Head Start. In center based programs where children attend school four or five days per week, teachers will visit each family four times. Home visits provide an opportunity for parents to learn more about child development and share information about their child’s development and progress. Together, teachers and parents develop goals and plan activities for their children. Home Based Home Visits In home based programs, Head Start Teachers or Family Support Specialists will visit weekly for about 1½ hour. In home based programs teachers support the parent as the child’s teacher and the home as the learning environment. Together, parents and teacher develop goals and plan activities for the home and for socializations. In the Home Base option, home visitors will focus on the parent-child interaction and how to best support your parenting skills. Things to keep In mind about home visits:
