Child development and family support services available for pregnant women and families of children age birth – 5 who are low income and reside in East Multnomah County outside Portland Public Schools. Services include comprehensive preschool and child care programs, home visits, parent and child activities, health screenings, meals, transportation, opportunities to volunteer, and parent involvement activities. Some programs operate year-round.
- Head Start Part Day Program.
Children attend a Head Start center four mornings (8:30-12:00) or afternoons (12:00-3:30), per week (Tues. through Friday) and families participate in regularly scheduled home visits. In most cases we provide transportation unless your family lives out of our transportation boundaries. You can check out our Boundaries map
- Head Start & Early Head Start Full Day Programs.
Full Day Program for working families with child care subsidy through DHS (ERDC Employment related Day Care). This program is for parents who work and receive child care subsidy. Children attend Head Start/EHS Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m to 3:45 p.m. and families participate in regularly scheduled home visits.
Full Day Program for Mt. Hood Community College Student Families. This program is for parents attending Mt. Hood Community College as full time students. Children attend Head Start/EHS from 8:15 AM until 3:45 PM Monday through Friday and families participate in regularly scheduled home visits.
- Head Start and Early Head Start Home Based Program
Families participate in a weekly home visit and participate in regularly scheduled group activities. Program enrolls pregnant moms and children who are birth to three in a variety of program options: EHS has a limited number of child care slots available for parents who are working or attending Mt. Hood Community College.
